To locals and tourists passing through La Mirage, the quaint hotel looks like any other vacation destination.
However, if you look closer, you’ll discover that it’s a 32-bed adult playground where Randy Brits strip down to enjoy a holiday Full of sun, sea and sex, and for those who want an extra touch, a very unusual experience is on offer.
As midterm begins, “swinger season” (traditionally in October and autumn months – opens its doors to the public, and SpainAdults-only hotels are cashing in.
While the temperature may be dropping in the UK, things are definitely heating up ingrancanaria.
With a variety of naughty arcades to choose from and its infamous nude beach, the island’s sex market is booming as tourists seek a playful getaway in the sun.
Some 3.5 million Britons visit Gran Canaria each year, most of them families and retirees going to sunbathe.
And while most tourists are preparing to spend a night in a restaurant after a day at the beach, the island’s army of secret swingers are mobilizing for a very naughty night.
With a full range of hotels, nightclubs and edgy bars, it’s enough to make you put down your tapas.
Staff at some of the island’s sex hotels told The Sun how the sex business is thriving on the island, even as anti-tourist sentiments grow in some corners of Spain’s tourist towns.
The British have dubbed the Catholic island “filth with a healthy dose of family fun,” with orgies of 40 ordinary people in a shopping center called Cita Mall, where you can buy groceries during the day and swing at night.
The stores become sex clubs at night, where people come to frolic and swing, and the stores have racks of kinky clothing for sale during the day.
Matt Mitchell, 39, construction machinery operator Lincolnshiretold The Sun: “The shopping center is a swinger’s mecca. People from all over the world come here to meet other swingers.”
Meanwhile, at the La Mirage resort, staff say every week is different.
But one thing remains the same: his British guests, who are “very open” with two favored nations, the Scandinavians and the Dutch.
And rather than catering to a younger market, it’s very popular with those over 50.
One staff member said: “I would say that the British are really very open and like to play with the Scandinavians and the Dutch, while the Germans can be more reserved at first.
“We don’t have rules about clothing.
“You can be naked all the time or wear a bathing suit; we don’t want to force anyone to do anything, but of course most people here practice nudism.”

Available to guests is a popular game room with a sex swing, along with a “special” curved couch that allows people to experiment with sexual positions.
A staff member added: “There’s also a mirror on the ceiling above the sofa – you can guess what it’s for.”
But sometimes staff are forced to intervene when couples get too frisky.
She said: “We have had a few occasions where couples have been too strong or enthusiastic, and we have had to give them a warning and threaten to ask them to leave.
“They may be watching other couples or sitting next to them while they play, when the other couple doesn’t want them to.
“Yes, this is a place for swingers and sex, but also for people to relax and enjoy their vacation, and people should be respectful.”
And they have a strict policy with single men: they are not allowed to set foot in the complex.
She said: “We have had some incidents in the past, with men coming here thinking they would have sex 24/7.
“They basically walk around trying to find women to have sex with, and that’s not what the place is about.”
The owners are Spanish and converted the complex from a normal hotel into a swingers’ venue, although they are not swingers themselves.
“I think that’s how it should be, to keep it professional,” the hotel owner said.
‘Toys and whips’
La Mirage is not the only swingers’ paradise open to the public.
Nearby, the Venus hotel, a luxurious nudist resort set among stunning subtropical gardens right in the heart of Maspalomas, and the Paradise resort are frequented by playful Brits.
A member of staff told The Sun: “Paradise is quieter. “We have 12 rooms and we operate from September, because September to October is basically swinger season.
“We have a pooljacuzzi and games room in both hotels. They are only a five minute drive from each other.
“The playrooms have lots of toys and whips available, and you can bring your own toys if you want.
“We have a nightclub in Playa Inglés called Moonlight, where couples can meet other couples and then return to the hotel together to have fun.
“In Paradise, on Tuesdays we allow single people to come, but only until 8 at night.
“Our clients are English, German, French, Polish, Italian; we have couples from all over the world, it’s a lot of fun.”
They added: “In Paradise there are usually older people, between 40 and 50 years old, and in Venus, which is much larger, there are couples aged 25 and older.
“In our hotels there is only one rule: no sex in the jacuzzi or pool.”
Venus guest Dee Grant, 43, mother-of-four from Manchester, said: “Gran Canaria is the ideal place if you are going on a swinging getaway.
“The swing scene here is very open. It’s not as taboo as it is in the UK. There are great places that are very publicised; you can go to five or six places.”
