“We control our own security and we have made it clear to international forces that Israel will decide which forces are unacceptable to us, and that is how we act and will continue to act,” Netanyahu said at the beginning of a cabinet meeting.
“This is, of course, accepted by the United States, as expressed by its highest representatives in recent days,” he added.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio has stated that US officials are receiving information about a possible United Nations resolution or international agreement to authorize a multinational force in Gaza and will discuss the issue in Qatar.
“Many of the countries that have expressed interest in participating at some level – whether monetary or personnel or both – are going to need that (a UN resolution or an international agreement) because their domestic laws require it,” Rubio told reporters traveling on his plane between Israel and Qatar en route to Asia.
“So we have a whole team working on that scheme.”
President Donald Trump’s administration wants Arab states to contribute funds and troops to a multinational force to keep peace in Gaza. Israel has ruled out the idea of Turkish troops participating.
Rubio said Friday during a visit to Israel that the international security troops to be deployed to the Gaza Strip under a ceasefire agreement will have to be made up of countries with which Tel Aviv is “comfortable.”
Rubio said the future of governance in Gaza still needs to be resolved between Israel and partner countries, but cannot include Hamas, adding that the potential role of the Palestinian Authority has yet to be determined.
The first phase of US President Donald Trump’s 20-point ceasefire agreement in Gaza was reached on October 10.
Since the ceasefire came into effect, the Israeli army has committed 80 violations and killed 97 Palestinians.
The first phase includes the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. The plan also envisions the reconstruction of Gaza and the establishment of a new governance mechanism without Hamas.
Since October 2023, the Israeli genocidal war has killed more than 68,200 people and injured more than 170,300, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.
