“I thought, ‘I hope he’s not too nasty with all the mistakes he makes,'” Grace explained of her internal monologue during production. “But then I was watching it and I thought, honestly, she’s a very human character. She’s very broken and a little lost, and for me, it was very authentic and real to see her make as many big mistakes as she does.”

Thames also found Grace’s copious notes useful in his own acting process.

“Whenever I was with her, we would just go over things and talk about the things we wanted to bring from the book to the movie,” he said. EW. “[We want to] “Let’s do our characters justice for the fans and, for us, we love these characters.”
